    Andrew is a very capable all round builder with an excellent attitude. He is honest, responsible and a genuinely nice guy. His prices are reasonable and he is clear regarding costs. English is not his first language, and I found it worth making an extra effort to double check we understood one another. He can do most jobs perfectly well so the temptation is to use him for everything all the time. Now and then, a dedicated tradesman is required e.g. the type of wood floor I used, required a specialist fitter with his own equipment and two other guys. Making very clear lists that we agreed on was invaluable. Inevitably there are always some problems, but Andrew worked with me to solve them. I experienced the work and attitude of eight different tradesmen, most of them born and bred Scottish and apart from the floor fitter, Andrew is the only one I would happily turn to again. Andrew just finished some new work that went like a dream.

Before Andrew came on board, I was in a real fix with a property that had lost value in the housing crash. It needed total renovation and modernising to a high standard. I tried a recommended and very experienced Scottish builder who let me down on the first day by jumping onto a bigger job. I tried an estate agent recommended Polish builder who fell out with his business partner and ended up cheating me and disappearing with two thousand pounds of materials money at Christmas with no intention of returning. I had to use a solicitor to help track him down. I only got my money back by waiting outside his flat every night in a scheme in the Southside of Glasgow. What fun.

I tried experienced Scottish electricians and plumbers who ended up doing the minimum possible so they could spend the afternoon in the pub. A kitchen fitter who damaged many cabinets, broke the dishwasher and bullied my girlfriend into paying him because he knew I was away visiting my mum who was critically ill in hospital.

Even when it all seemed over, I had a major leak that flooded the whole underneath of the flat, all because the original plumber was too lazy to change one piece of old piping, which in the end took less than a day but by then had caused a thousand pounds of damage. I couldn't even rent or sell the flat in the condition it was in. I felt I couldn't even face any more builders. It was a black hole money pit with no end in sight. I nearly had a nervous breakdown.

This all changed when Andrew came on board. He saved the situation. The flat looks amazing and the headache and heartache have gone.
